Forestadent – a tradition of precision

The company FORESTADENT, located in Pforzheim, Germany is one of the leading manufacturers of orthodontic products worldwide. As a family run business with more than 100 years of tradition, the name FORESTADENT stands for high precision and innovative quality products.

Prospering in the jewellery industry Founded in 1907 by Bernhard Förster, the Bernhard Förster GmbH first produced spring clasps and necklace locks for the local jewellery industry.

Back in 1934 the company started manufacturing very precise watch movements and watches under the brand name Foresta.

From chronometers to orthodontic braces Fourty years later, the structural change caused by low-price manufacturers from the Far East was clearly felt in the jewellery and watch-making industry. The grandsons of the company founder were aware of the need for change. Whilst Gerhard Förster started to build up a jewellery production in Mauritius, Rolf Förster dedicated himself to a completely new line of business – the production of orthodontic products.

In 1974, he visited the dental world exhibition in Hamburg. His participation in this fair designated the trend reversal in the history of the successful family business. Today the company, known under the brand name FORESTADENT, ranks among the top international manufacturers of orthodontic products.
