The Snap Lock Expander by FORESTADENT – a new rapid palatal expander with locking mechanism.

The new Snap Lock Expander by FORESTADENT allows palatal expansions to be carried out more easily and effectively. The expander does not unwind automatically thanks to a built-in safety mechanism. This mechanism makes sure that the flat spring puts pressure on the eccentric spindle. This makes the spindle snap into an ideal position for reactivation and locks it against unwinding. Reactivation can only be done by using a specific key. Both patient and clinician will be able to feel how the flat spring snaps in when activating. Consequently, they know the exact position of the spindle. Ultimately, activating the spindle is also a lot easier for the patient as the holes in the spindle are always in the same position, so reactivation is efficient, simple and safe. In case of overactivation, the spindle can be turned back without any problems. The Snap Lock Expander is available in three sizes – with a maximal expansion of 8, 10 and 12 mm.
